AFILHADEDEUS is a Portuguese label founded in 2006 by two artists, Bruno Alves and Catarina Enes, graduated in Painting in the Porto Academy of Fine Arts; after studying subjects such as photography, video art and screen, they teamed up to work in their own fashion project. Set up to dress an imaginary character, literally meaning “God`s daughter”, with a singular mood, favorite colors and personal vices, AFILHADEDEUS expresses how people consume and behave. Her political sides are well defined and her social and economic choices represent a different way of consumption.
AFILHADEDEUS is not afraid to propose an alternative, seducing the masses and presenting a sense of freedom in fashion's muzzle. Although this imaginary character presence is real, the results are non caricatural. AFILHADEDEUS explores a singular way of living, a state of mind.
Recently, the two artists decided to go deeper by bequeathing their work`s personal concepts in to their fashion, it appears: FIAT LUX, exclusive pieces, with experimental cuts, materials and technologies, result of the theme`s research for its main collection; SINE DIE, in which is understood the subversion and the reuse of materials, objects and clothes; COMPRIMERE, a basic line, with screen-printed and hand-made drawings, presented in vacuum packs.
As an addition to its wide range of accessories with ubiquitous influence to the open-minded,
AFILHADEDEUS brings AS, its first jewelry collection with a first line that revitalizes some items of the old Portuguese goldsmith like the Partridge`s eye bead (or Viana`s bead).
With an discreet and confidante group of Iberian retailers and several participations in events and fairs in the territory, AFILHADEDEUS wants to establish in foreigner countries, after the first and recent experience in Best-Shop Berlin, returned with a “showcase” in this year`s first Premium Exhibition's fair.
